AOMD Adds a Timber-Framed Extension to the Hop Cottage
Amy Duong — February 20, 2025 — Art & Design
British architecture studio AOMD has formed an extension in the shape of an 'L' to create a free-flowing interior space for Hop Cottage. This is a semi-detached home located in Kent, England and the team created this in place of an old conservatory. The goal was to create a more open-plan space for the ground floor of the home.
It is the home of a couple who are avid gardeners. The founder of AOMD, Michael Dillon spoke more on the design process, "We centred the narrative of the architecture around a playful interaction of interior and exterior. Our remodelling of the landscape aimed to define three different gardens, encouraging a range of environments, from shaded courtyard to open grassland."
