A hoodie exhibition might sound like a pretty niche adventure into the world of fashion, but it actually incredibly robust. The Het Nieuwe Instituut, Rotterdam launches programming that unpacks the history of the garment and the topics reach to "youth culture, subculture, social inequality, racism, privacy, fear, and style." The hoodie exhibition centers the garment as "western fashion's last truly political garment" and audiences might find it quite exciting as the experience will also reveal how items in one's wardrobe have meaning beyond style and versatility. Not only does the exhibit trace the origins of hoodies, but it also expands on their development and adoption in the contemporary world of fashion and beyond.
The hoodie exhibition will run at the Het Nieuwe Instituut, Rotterdam until the 12th of April, 2020.
