MFIT Presents Fresh, Fly, and Fabulous: Fifty Years of Hip Hop Style

The Museum at the Fashion Institute of Technology presents its new Fresh, Fly, and Fabulous: Fifty Years of Hip Hop Style exhibition. The school hosted an opening reception to unveil the new installation that displays styles that were prominent in the past five decades and defined hip-hop fashion from 1973 and onwards. This includes custom outerwear looks, athleisure, and jewelry as well.

Some of the most iconic looks were captured including the collaborative project between LL Cool J and FUBI in the form of shearling jackets and heavily embroidered denim pieces. It also features more recent styles such as the Met Gala gown worn by Megan Thee Stallion in 2022 or the signature Tommy Hilfiger outfit by Aaliyah.
