Design duo Fernando and Humberto Campana designed a unique home exterior for a house in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
The Indigenous peoples of Brazil use "fibres from the piassava palm" to protect themselves from the heat and this home exterior was inspired by that practice. The result is an exterior that has a textured appearance that creates a natural balance to the modern cubic shape of the home. The designers of this unusual home described the concept that inspired their work as "a vegetable that invades the house." Other unique elements in the home include a misshapen mirror the size of a wall and a suspended bedroom fireplace.
The design of this home and its textured exterior are evidence that traditional design ideas can be incorporated into modern concepts.
