Sedki Alimam Recreates the Work of Famous Artists with New Subjects

A talented graphic designer and illustrator by the name of Sedki Alimam recently set his sights on some of history's high art for a humorous project that shows its subjects swapped for iconic contemporary cartoon characters.

Many of the resulting works showcase abstract versions of characters from films and shows like Beauty and the Beast, The Simpsons and Finding Nemo, whereas others recreate figures taken from games. This includes the bright red Angry Birds and another which shows Mario surrounded by the Nintendo game's dreaded obstacles. Throughout his high art reinterpretations, Sedki Alimam adapts the works taken from Piet Mondrian and Pablo Picasso.

In doing so, his pieces create interesting visuals that honor the history each was inspired by while also showing the impact that cartoon characters have on current society.
