Beautifully tracking the artistic side of athletic life, the HEYNIEK 'Romance of Running' interactive installation pays tribute to Nike+. The idea behind the installation was created by the young designer Niek Pulles, who goes by HEYNIEK, for the Nike-sponsored exhibition at the Vondel Park Amsterdam. A spin at the wheel allows audiences to gorgeously mix sand, water and glitter with the projections of runners atop the installation, so a new route can be created.
Pulles states on his website that the work channels how, "every time you put on your running shoes, there's a completely different route and experience to be had. Within this the city is your open palette, perfectly tracked by Nike+."
Filled with whimsy, the experimental installation truly exhibits a romantic notion of running that often goes unnoticed by everyday runners who tread dizzying patterns into their environment.
