The Heatherwick Glasshouse has been designed by the Heatherwick Studio as a greenhouse that sets itself apart from the natural landscape with a crystalline aesthetic. The greenhouse is situated in the Woolbeding Gardens in West Sussex where visitors can enjoy the Silk Route Garden to celebrate the ancient trade route between Asia and Europe. The greenhouse features a series of 10 angles steeples that are powered by a hydraulic mechanism to slowly open up in the warm weather in four-minutes.
The Heatherwick Glasshouse maintains a very ornamental design, but is still quite functional as the home for subtropical plants to flourish in summer and winter. The greenhouse maintains a jewel-like design when closed and opens to reveal a crown-inspired form when opened.
