Photographer Grace Chon created the 'Hairy' series which features canines before and after their makeovers. Chon selected dogs all in need of grooming to make the series more of stark contrast.
The Hairy series focuses on Japanese-style grooming which is more creative and whimsical and makes the newly groomed dogs look like stuffed animals. The emphasis for the style is to highlight the cute characteristics of each dog. The haircuts take about two hours each and are largely done by hand scissors to get the exact look of the style.
Chon worked at Healthy Spot dog groomers in Los Angeles, California to capture all the shots for her series. Chon wanted to showcase the contrast in the dogs' appearances before and after being groomed and the artwork that is Japanese Dog Grooming Cuts.
