DIY Savory Gumbo Cupcakes

Fat Tuesday Meets Mardi Gras with This Gumbo Cupcake Recipe

These gumbo cupcakes remind me of a time that I attempted so sweeten up a pepperoni pizza by adding marshmallows. Much like that eclectic mix, it's actually much more delicious than it sounds. Seriously, marshmallows on a pizza was awesome.

The gumbo cupcakes are achievable with a recipe from Steffani Pollack of The Cupcake Project. Pollack is something of a cupcake mad scientist, having created other bizarre savory/sweet recipes such as cupcake chicken nuggets, cupcake sausages, and chocolate chip grilled cheese sandwiches.

The recipe calls for an eclectic mix of spices and sweets, including a gumbo-flavored glaze. The garnished shrimp is the (figurative) cherry on top of the cupcake. Fat Tuesday just got a little fatter with this fascinating gumbo cupcake experiment.
