This Google tool is supposed to stop annoying online ads from following you around on the Internet. According to the Guardian, the new setting will enable people to "hide reminder ads on a case-by-case basis, giving more control over muted adverts across devices." This refers to ads that try to entice consumers to return to a site where they've previously abandoned shopping carts.
The ad-muting feature in Google Ads Settings also lets users see all the reminder ads that are currently attached to them and cancel companies they don't want to see advertisements from. Group Product Manager for Data Privacy and Transparency at Google John Krafcik shared they plan to extend the Google tool to Youtube, Gmail and Search in the near future.
