Google has announced new live caption language support for its Google Meet platform.
In an effort to make the meeting application more inclusive to users, Google released the update to support French, German, Portuguese, and Spanish languages across all the different versions of Meet. The live caption features are proven to broaden the support for a variety of audiences, such as students struggling with learning disabilities, as well as individuals learning English.
Considering the digital shift resulting from the coronavirus pandemic, Google Meet has kept up with competing applications by extending Meet call times, offering attendance metrics, and incorporating live interactive features. Google Meet incorporated real-time captioning into the platform prior to this update, though it only included captions in English.
