Google Has Remodeled Its VR Headwear to Use Full-Eye Coverage

Google has been making plays into what is now called the Metaverse for over a decade with its Google Glasses and its mobile VR compatible with its Google Pixel phones. Near the end of 2020, Google purchased the start-up 'North,' which is the new holder of the patents leftover from Intel's Vaunt project. This means that Google now effectively owns the remainder of Intel's Vaunt, which shut down due to technological limitations.
Now, with Google's expertise in the mixed reality and virtual reality industry, and its market knowledge from previous AR and VR ventures, the tech giant is slating up to release a new VR headset that offers full-eye coverage. One of the large limitations of the Google Glass was that it was merely an overlayed display, so while it provided some helpful information, consumers did not like the style or barebones nature of the technology.
This full-eye coverage headset will utilize full VR technology similar to the Oculus Quest 2, though it is not yet clear if this headset will operate with its own hardware or if it will tether to a mobile device or computer. Additionally, Google has noted that technological limitations are no longer as much of an issue as they were nearly four years ago with Vaunt.
