Apple's Upcoming HMD Device is Separate from Facebook and Meta

Apple has filed several patents for an upcoming VR/AR headset device, temporarily named the 'Apple HMD' or 'Apple Head-Mounted Display.' This headset will feature the ability for users to play games, have social experiences, enjoy media, and sync their existing Apple account, which bodes well for consumers who are deep into Apple's ecosystem.
While this headset may seem like Apple's venture into the popular trend of the Metaverse, Apple has stated that it has no interest in the Metaverse of Facebook/Meta. The brand did not state whether it will be vying to build its own metaverse, though analysts suspect that this is the case. The upcoming Apple HMD device will work similarly to the Oculus Quest 2's 'Air Link' feature which allows Quest users to stream their computer to their headset wirelessly, though the Apple HMD will stream to the upcoming iPhone 13. Additionally, it is likely that the Apple HMD will also be able to wirelessly connect to Mac computers and Macbooks, as this would open many more opportunities in terms of processing power.
