NBA team Golden State Warriors' stadium Oracle Arena is the first NBA stadium to be integrated with beacon-powered proximity technology. The technology was launched to allow for the creation of location-based marketing campaigns while delivering context-relevant content to fans. The technology is powered by Sonic Notify beacons.
Fans will be able to engage with beacons via the Go Warrirs mobile app, which is available for free. The technology can detect where fans are and send them relevant messages. This can be used for things ranging from welcome messages and seat upgrade notifications to traffic alerts and offers.
However, Golden State Warriors' stadium is being prudent in that it is not introducing the technology too fast, but is being conservative with it at first to give fans time to get used to it.
