In collaboration with Squarespace, GIPHY is launching the first-ever GIF Film Festival and challenging creators to explore the kind of engaging, compelling stories that can be told in 18 seconds or less. As GIPHY describes, "we believe audiovisual storytelling does not have to be feature-length or even short length."
Creators will have the chance to enter their works in different categories: stop-motion, animated, experimental, narrative and other. A finalist will be selected from each category, although just one winner will be chosen to receive a $10,000 prize and a five-year subscription to Squarespace.
The panel of judges that will be assessing the storytelling GIFs is made up of artists, filmmakers, comedians, actors, writers, as well as Spotify’s Global Creative Director Alex Bodman.
