Gaming livestreams and video content have proven an extremely lucrative venture, with many video-game focused YouTubers reaching millions of subscribers -- and now Facebook is launching their own gaming creator platform. The pilot program will put the social network into direct competition with Youtube.
The new program will focus on helping those who create gaming content build meaningful and engaged communities, and more so than any other online platform. Facebook Gaming also hopes to increase discovery and distribution of content on multiple avenues and be a platform where any level of gaming content creator can be successful. Perhaps most notably, Facebook Gaming will also aim to entice gamers with an in-app tipping feature for livestreams.
