"Food is better when it is powered by people" is the slogan of the Food Assembly and if you try their unique system and service you might have to agree. "The Food Assembly facilitates community-led pop-up markets where people collect pre-ordered produce directly from local farmers and food producers," Ilana Taub, co-founder of Snact wrote for the Guardian this week in the Social Enterprise Network.
It's certainly and interesting approach and the group-like initiative means that it's more than simply buying food but it allows the community itself to have power in what kinds of products -- and what kinds of people -- they are supporting. A group or simply one person can start an assembly.
