Mass-Timber Research Pavilion

FLORA bythe IAAC is a Hillside Timber Pavilion in Barcelona

A team made up of both students and researchers at the Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia in Barcelona create the FLORA pavilion. It is a hillside timber structure that is defined by its hanging walkways resting in the midst of trees.

FLORA is an acronym that stands for Forest Lab for Observational Research and Analysis. It functions as a scientific facility that allows the researcher to comfortably work and live in the canopy. IAAC speaks to Dezeen about the project, explaining that "The project seeks to be immersed within nature and to create an ecological interactive prototype." The pavilion is constructed on the grounds of the institute's Valladaura Labs in the Collserola Natural Park.
