Divorce-Simplifying Home Designs

This Floating House Concept Was Designed To Make Divorces Easier

This floating house concept by Studio OBA and Omar Kbiri aims to simplify divorce proceedings by splitting itself into two.

Divorces can be quite difficult and one of the main points of contention throughout divorce proceedings is which partner will be able to keep the house they once lived in together. Omar Kbiri came up with a unique floating house concept called 'Prenuptial Housing' that would be able to split into two separate parts in the case of a divorce. By making the process of divorce "less of an upheaval," the designers of this house aim to relieve some of the emotional and financial stress involved in separating from a marriage partner.

Taking the concept of a "prenuptial agreement" as far as it can go, this house is perfect for skeptics who would like to preemptively make housing arrangements to prepare for a divorce down the road.
