The recent shutdown of Facebook led millions with unanswered questions and confusion; users wondered whether it was just a Facebook glitch or a successful hacking attempt, such as the latest Twitter scare. This was labeled as the worst glitch the company has had in the past four years; however, the website was able to go back online within a mere 2.5 hours.

The recent Facebook glitch was caused by a software issue that consequently created database flaws; the site immediately shut down to lessen the amount of traffic to salvage the technical issue.
