IKEA's Extreme Home Makeover-Style Show Helps Modern Homeowners
Laura McQuarrie — April 15, 2014 — Marketing
IKEA's Home Tour is like an Extreme Home Makeover come to life, aimed at helping families improve their lives through design. The Home Tour is being introduced as a documentary-style series and it will follow five Swedish IKEA employees as they tour the United States to help families plan, shop and redecorate their homes. These IKEA helpers will be visiting major cities like Atlanta, Baltimore, Philadelphia and Washington to helps real world families tackle the problem areas of their homes.
IKEA is also using the #IKEAHomeTour campaign as a way to celebrate diversity, which will be apparent right off the bat, as IKEA visits two guys in the Bronx who are looking to soon get married.
The Home Tour may be set up in the same way as decorating shows from years ago, but IKEA's take on the idea is modern and will be available for viewing on YouTube.
