Deep Sea VR Simulators

The Amphibian SCUBA Diving Simulator Lets Users Explore Underwater Worlds

Those who are differently abled or afraid of open water can find it difficult to explore underwater worlds, so the Amphibian SCUBA Diving Simulator is designed to help.

Developed by researchers at MIT Media Lab's Living Mobile Group, the Amphibian SCUBA Diving Simulator puts users in a system that mimics the feeling of exploring the seas.

The Amphibian SCUBA Diving Simulator makes use of the Oculus Rift and other accoutrements to allow those who are different abled or afraid of water to enjoy a dive.

The research team is led by Dhruv Jain and Mishra Sra who created the experience to allow people to explore underwater worlds without ever actually jumping into the water. At present, the Amphibian SCUBA Diving Simulator is still in testing phases.
