Architecture firm Payette has completed the EXP building which is an urban structure which is at Northeastern University. It has a rooftop garden and facades that decorate the structure in a 'solar veil' crafted using metal strips. The EXP is found on a former brownfield site and it is the latest addition to the science and engineering branch on campus.
As a part of the project, the studio took an eight-story structure and wrapped it in ribbons of stainless steel. The team shares, "The project incorporates the largest installation in the world of filtered fume hoods – along with high-performance, low-flow hoods – to significantly reduce the air flow requirements in what otherwise would have been a very ventilation-intensive programme."
