Twizzled Staircases

A Section of the Eiffel Tower Staircase Sells at Paris Auction

Luxury souvenirs may be the next big thing in the world of travel. Previously, Trend Hunter featured a story on a Dutchman who bought a chunk of the Eiffel Tower staircase for €150,000 (or $218,000). Now, an ironworker from the town of Troyes in France is the proud new owner of another chunk of the Eiffel Tower staircase.

Recently, a section of the Eiffel Tower staircase went up for auction in Paris and was eventually sold to the Troyes resident for €85,000 (about $123,700 USD) on Monday. The section comprises 40 steps, which came from the 24 parts of the full staircase that was dismanted in 1983. While I think $123,000 is a hefty sum to pay for any souvenir, according to The Luxury Insider, one of the other 24 parts previously sold for $800,289 USD!
