Man Buys Eiffel Tower Piece - 150,000 Euros For Part of Staircase

Some people just love monuments and historical architecture too much. A Dutchman bought a piece of the staircase from the Eiffel Tower this week for 150,000 euros! Erik Kurvers, the president of the EiffelTowers, a Dutch basketball team, placed his bid on Monday.
Oh the joys of owning a piece of rusted Parisian iron!
Did the romance of the city just capture too much of his heart?
The original staircase, which once linked the second and third storeys of the 1889 Paris landmark, was dismantled in 1983 when elevators were installed and cut into 20 sections, one of which was sold on Monday.
Slightly battered and rusty, it stood outside the auction house over the weekend, attracting small crowds of curious passers-by.
