Energy conservation may be considered one of those boring lessons that mom, dad or teacher seems determined to bestow upon children, but perhaps these Eco Monsters would communicate the message more effectively. Designed by Anastasia Bondarenko, these peculiar playthings have great power behind their cute appearances.
One of the Best of the Best concepts in this year's Red Dot Design Awards, this collection of odd little creatures is synced with an iPad app that tells an interactive and informative story for kids. Each one is equipped with a sensor of one sort or another, capable of metering the consumption of water, electricity, waste and heat. The data collected by these Eco Monsters is made available on the tablet, which gently and playfully tells youngsters how to improve any uneconomical habits.
