Pickles, candy bars and butter are some unusual food items that have been deep-fried, but the strangest yet may come from a booth at this year's Bacon-A-Fair, where it is now possible to eat a drink.

The deep-fried Starbucks snack served at the San Diego fair takes inspiration from the giant coffee chain, using a sugar-coated batter to contain ground coffee on the inside. The deep-fried ball is served in a branded Starbucks cup with a scoop of whipped cream and a stick for easy eating.

Although many bizarre fried foods may not appeal to the most health-conscious consumers, they can't help but catch the attention of adventurous foodies. Ever year as it becomes carnival season, creative chefs seem to push the limits, wondering, "Is there anything that can't be deep-fried?"
