Doshi Levien's 'Earth to Sky' Range is Sculptural and Functional
References: doshilevien & dezeen
Earth to Sky is a new lighting range launched by London-based design studio Doshi Levien. The capsule is the first one that the firm has seen completely through by itself — from the stages of conception to the concrete levels of production. Consisting of two table lamps, a number of wall-hung lights and a ceiling light, each design is envisioned to be functional and sculptural.
The inspiration for the Earth to Sky range is quite interesting. Doshi Levien looked toward the "techniques employed to make and repair cars" and as a result, each silhouette in the capsule utilizes automotive aluminum as the main material. The shapes of the lamps follow an organic aesthetic and the experimental quality will surely make them a focal point in the home.
