Crystallized Sapphire Watches

Greubel Forsey Drops the Ultra-Luxurious Double Balancier Sapphire

Luxury watchmaker Greubel Forsey designs the brand new Double Balancier Sapphire timepiece with an entire sapphire crystal encasing. The highly exclusive piece is only limited to 11 pieces in North America and priced at a heavy $695,000 each. The luxury item boasts a precise engineering influenced by light and transparency, as every part of the mechanism can be viewed.

The sapphire encasing took 900 hours to machine alone -- rounded off with a translucent finish as well. The Double Balancier Sapphire watch is constructed with intricate details, as the hand movements infuse 284 parts, running at a 72-hour chronometric reserve and 21,600 vibrating frequency per hour. The exterior is polished by hand and has the brand's philosophy at the movement with white gold hands and a blue gold dial.
