At a time when some restaurants are scrambling to adapt to the new normal, DoorDash is introducing DoorDash Storefront to help restaurants set up their own online stores. According to DoorDash, "40% of [its] restaurant partners today do not have an online ordering system" and this platform has the potential to give essential support to small, independent businesses.
With DoorDash Storefront, deliveries will be fulfilled by DoorDash employees but participating restaurants will not pay a commission to DoorDash on orders that are received through the storefront. As restaurants may not be getting the foot traffic they require to keep themselves afloat, this platform helps them reach a wider range of customers online so that they can remain up and running.
