With an unusual physical makeup, the delightful Deux Ames bench celebrates the way that opposites can attract. You may be surprised to learn that the seat has been sculpted using papier mache techniques to produce impressively sturdy support for a couple of fond sitters.
Layers and layers of paper where applied to an eccentric metal frame to give the furnishing strength and a defined outline. Artistic liberty was exercised to give the piece a playful asymmetrical and animated shape to underline the characteristic differences between the two people who will repose on the loveseat together. One half is painted white and the other blue, further fostering this sense of distinction.
Elena Salmistraro has used the same whimsical skill to create vases and lamps to complement her Deux Ames chair.
