Dominique Ansel might be most well-known for his creation of the Cronut donut but now the gourmet chef is back with a tasting dessert menu featuring surrealist food combinations infused into eight separate courses.
Each of Ansel's courses are explicitly dessert-based offering a variety of sweet and beautifully presented foods that look more like art than food. The eight courses surround the theme of "firsts" by pulling inspirations from initial moments such as a first kiss or a first heartbreak. The first kiss-inspired dessert features edibles such as peanut water coupled with retro cream soda pop in the form of tiny pearls whereas the first heartbreak features a bitter-tasting almond ice cream topped with sugary meringue. The eight course meal costs $85 per person and can be accompanied with drink pairings for an extra fee.
