Multisensory Bathroom Installations

Design Continuum by Villeroy & Boch Explores Perception

The Design Continuum installation by Villeroy & Boch Group and Ideal Standard is presented at Milan Design Week 2026 as a transformation of the brand’s Milan showroom into a multisensory environment. Developed with creative studio Elastique, the project uses light, projections, textures, and scent to construct an immersive sequence of spaces. The installation reframes the bathroom as a spatial experience shaped through atmosphere and material rather than fixed product display.

The exhibition is organized into five distinct environments, each functioning as a separate study of material, perception, and spatial interaction. Surfaces respond to changing light, textures invite touch, and transitions between rooms guide movement through the installation. Elements are presented in a “ready-made” state, exposing fragments of process and experimentation instead of finished compositions. The project brings together Villeroy & Boch’s heritage-driven design approach with Ideal Standard’s contemporary direction.
