AR-Improving Depth Tools

Google's Depth API Tool Creates More Accurate AR Environments

Google created a Depth API that is able to improve AR experiences for ARCore, which Google has been developing for two years. The Depth API will also be given search capabilities, which will enable users to add 3D images from searches. When objects are disabled, they will appear above the AR environment, however, if they are enabled the Depth API will allow the image to appear real.

Google also collaborated with Houzz to integrate the Depth API into the home design platform. Houzz users will now be able to access the tool in 'View in NY Room 3D,' mode which is available on the Houzz platform.

The new tool will provide better AR experiences to users across a number of different platforms.
