Reworked Icon Portraits

David Agdobi Poses as Naomi Campbell, Michael Jackson and Malcom X

The talented model and photographer David Agbodji has taken on several new iconic personas in his auto-portrait series. With the help of fashion editor Laurent Dombrowicz and make-up artist Yann Bousand Lacher, Agboji came to embody the famous likes of Naomi Campbell, Dumas Fils, Malcolm X and even the recently deceased Michael Jackson.

Through his flip flopping between male and female roles, Agbodji demonstrated that it is possible for models to assume transgender-oriented projects, and what’s more is that he makes it look incredibly easy.

David Agdobji’s gifted team pulled off the set at Paris’ Upper East Studios, and although the studio is picturesque to say the least, the images do not feature the background, but are rather entirely focused on the big time legends. Given their larger-than-life personalities, this choice fits well with the iconic theme of the portraits.
