Showing us what life is like in Kinshasa, the capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo, this interesting and unique take on photography techniques helps provide a visual story in this daily life photo series.
Using techniques that not only give the series a surreal and raw effect, but helps portray a more authentic portrayal of the captures, Kinshasa-based photographer Kiripi Katembo Siku shares this series of her city with the audience. What makes the series different is the fact that the photographer stays away from the conflict, and just focuses on the mundane sleepy scenes you would find in big cities.
The 'Un regard' daily life photo series shows us the city through reflections in garbage-filled pools of dirty water in the streets. The technique gives the images a slight psychedelic effect and plays around with atypical compositions that are not digitally manipulated.
