The Dado Tea Machine Adds a Modern Twist to a Classic Design

The Dado tea machine is named after the East Asian practice of making and drinking tea in a formal setting. The device resembles that which would be used in a typical tea ceremony. Hyeongkwon Lee adds a modern twist to the traditional device.

The designer takes inspiration from traditional kettles used in tea-making ceremonies for the kettle portion of the Dado. Its minimalist design aims to bring a sense of peace and serenity to the user to harness a relaxing experience. Each Dado machine is equipped with two cups that rest on a heating pad, resembling a wireless stovetop. To fill the kettle with water, users can open the back compartment and pour water into the hidden bucket. As the cups rest on their heating pads, users are reminded of traditional tea practices, which include warmed teacups.
