Individuals have full control of the delicious end product — from choosing the donut base and selecting numerous toppings to making decisions about whether they want the sugary goodness to be filled with jam, chocolate or creme.
The customized donut machine is definitely a clever way of engaging the consumer base. Not only does Krispy Kreme allow its dedicated customers to indulge in the act of building their own personal donut, it also collects insight into the recurring flavor preferences and gathers data on unconventional creations that just might work. One consumer "has suggested designing a crispy bacon donut drenched in maple syrup," as DesignTAXI describes.
