The Nissan X-Trail Bobsleigh Draws Inspiration from Cars

While Nissan is known the world over for powerful crossover vehicles, the brand is foraying into unexpected territory with the new Nissan X-Trail Bobsleigh. Created in collaboration with bobsled manufacturer Diego Menardi and expert Ian Richardson, the Nissan X-Trail Bobsleigh combines the best of bobsleds and road vehicles.
The Nissan X-Trail Bobsleigh took its first run at the Igls Olympic track in Innsbruck, Austria where the vehicle was capable of accelerating at impressive speeds. British Olympic medalist Sean Olsson piloted the bobsled during the first official run of the design.
Speaking on the process behind the Nissan X-Trail Bobsleigh and the crossover vehicle inspiration, design manager Darryl Scriven of Nissan Design Europe explains: "The process that we've employed on this project is completely the same as when we were developing the car. We start with a sketch and we move it all the way through the digital workflow, right the way through to a physical asset."
