Beauty products are notoriously difficult to recycle because cosmetic boxes, tubes and other packaging solutions usually consist of multiple pieces that are difficult to separate properly. Axiology is a low-waste beauty brand that offers its multi-use Balmies in bold red recyclable boxes that are handmade from recycled trash by a women's cooperative in Bali.
The "lip-to-lid" Balmies themselves take the form of waste-free crayons that do away with tubes and caps. These paper-wrapped lip products are packed with hydrating ingredients like oils, butters and antioxidants from elderberry, hemp and plum oil. As such, the products are designed to be applied to desired areas and blended in with fingers. The multi-use cosmetic crayons can be applied to the eyes, lips and cheeks in flattering shades like Clementine, Sorbet and Nude Plum.
