Uncustomized News Apps

This Content Discovery Engine Finds Articles Outside of Your Filter Bubble

This content discovery app helps you find news that is less personalized in an effort to broaden users' horizons and make them more informed. Developed by Jarno Mikael Koponen, the Random app (previously known as Futureful) is an engine that's designed to break filter bubbles and ensure a wider selection of stories reach the public.

Inspired by Eli Parisier's book, the news reader app offers a web of color-coded keywords instead of a linear infinity scroll. Users select a different shape and it will expand to fit your phone's screen, showing you different articles that aren't affected by trends that are buzzing or what people in your social networks are looking at. The content discovery tool does this by combining algorithms and human curation.

Keyword-based Newsreading

Human-curated News
Develop apps that utilize a combination of algorithms and human curation to provide users with news that is not influenced by personalized trends or social networks.
