To add some visual interest to its confectionery chocolate packaging, Merdas tasked designer Masoud Rostami with the creation of a dynamic look for its chocolate collection. The finished designs remind that "Even legends cannot resist a treat" and features icons like Beethoven, Newton and Shakespeare on the front of each chocolate bar wrapper. While these historical figures are often depicted with stoic classical portraits, this packaging plays with the images of these figures by having their eyes light up at the sight of the chocolate treats being unwrapped.
From afar, the Merdas chocolate packaging boasts a sophisticated look that's even more charming when consumers come closer to appreciate the humorous and playful details.
This meme-like packaging is one of many emerging branding designs that successfully borrows elements from Internet culture.
