These concrete egg magnets prove that functional stationery organizers can be made of the most simple of materials; in this case, empty egg shells, magnets and concrete. A DIY pictorial by South Korean blogger Design Hobby walks you through how to make these modern-looking gray eggs that serve as cute desk toppers.
The creator cuts a hole at the top of the egg, big enough to empty the content inside and re-fill the shell with concrete, but small enough so that the concrete will harden in a full egg shape. The trick is to drop a few magnet pieces into the egg shell along with the liquid cement. When the concrete hardens, the egg shell is peeled off and the paperclip holders are complete.
The design is especially neat because the paperclips that stick to the concrete eggs resemble a birds nest.
