Karpathos -- an island in Greece, is home to a stunning cliffside house that has been designed by Stockholm-based architectural practice OOAK. The dwelling is situated in a remote location and the views prove to be breathtaking. Taking cues from the surrounding landscape, the firm looked to maximize the experience of the topography, while producing a non-invasive architectural agent to Karpathos.
While some companies produce designs that mimic the landscape, OOAK chose a different approach for the cliffside house. The studio attempted to slot the structure in "as an object" that "complements and enhances the rugged hillside." From a contemporary point of view, OOAK definitely succeeds in doing so by choosing a minimalist and geometrically simple silhouette with a soft tonal palette.
