Claire Lavabre's Reflet Mirror Purposefully Shows Partial Reflections

French designer Claire Lavabre has developed a mirror that only shows a reflection when it is in front of a dark shape. The Reflet mirror shows a foggy image when placed against a white surface, with the image becoming clearer when placed against a dark shape. The Reflet mirror was made using ultra-reflective glass that was specially treated.

Looking into the mirror can be a tad bit alarming if you don't know the story behind it. The part of the mirror not against the dark surface appears to be hazy and almost ghostly in appearance. Claire Lavabre is one of a few designers who have recently reinterpreted the function and form of the traditional mirror. The Reflet mirror probably isn't something you'd want to use to help you get dressed in the morning, but it's an awesome work of art, nonetheless.
