Cutout Christmas Tree Displays

This Holiday Display is at the Tokyo Midtown Shopping Centre

This Christmas tree display has been designed by the Nendo design studio for the Tokyo Midtown shopping center in the Roppongi entertainment district as a modernized take on classically inspired decor.

The display consists of a conical tree that's bright and pointy to give it a decidedly abstract form, and is accented by a series of cutouts across the exterior surface. The tree stands in at 7.5-meters in height to give it decidedly large construction and is equipped with a total of 416 fans that give the tree constant movement when being admired.

Nendo commented further on the Christmas tree display saying, "The pieces not only sway and move with the wind but can also stop swinging in the air catching the wind at the programmed timing. By continuously receiving a certain amount of airflow, the pieces also float upward in a sustained manner."
