Local studio Kapsimalis Architects is tasked with the overhaul of a cave-like house in the village of Imerovigli which is located on the Santorini island. The project's main focus was updating the building to reflect modernist movements in the field of design, creating a tranquil ambiance for the residents, as well as fostering agreeable relationships with the main structure and the many outhouses that contain the bakehouse and toilets.
The cave-like house offers breathtaking vistas of the Aegean Sea. Hence, in terms of design, the minimalism works well as it does not overpower the view. The smooth angles within the abode create a sense of fluidity and a calm refuge. Besides the very clear and clean aesthetic overhaul, Kapsimalis Architects worked on the overall layout of the cave-like house to create a good flow of action.
