The Cash Rewards Program Encourages Folks to Avoid the Morning Rush

This cash rewards program was designed in order to encourage public transportation users to avoid rush hour and decrease commuting congestion. BART, San Francisco's regional transport authority, launched BART Perks as an incentive for locals not to use the trains during peak times.

The gamified initiative allows BART travelers to earn points with every ride, which are tracked with their Clipper card. Passengers can earn up to six times the amount of points when they travel outside designated morning rush hours. Points can be redeemed as small cash prizes. A Spin to Win game also offers the opportunity to win $100.

The cash rewards program is just the latest metropolitan attempt at curbing hectic commutes for residents.
