Daniel Johnson — October 30, 2019 — Tech
Square has launched free stock trading for the Cash App, where users are able to invest as little or as much as they like. The feature allows users to purchase fractions of stocks on the Cash App for $1. Additionally Square added stock trading as a free feature for the platform. The co-founder, Jack Dorsey, spoke on the new features and stated that it enables users to chase financial security by making, “buying stocks and building wealth accessible to more people.”
Square is attempting to position its Cash App as more than just a money transfer platform. Previously Square added a feature that allows users to trade bitcoin. There are now many apps that users can choose to send and receive money, so Square adding other features to the Cash App will help it attract and maintain a user base.
