Portuguese-Focused Wine Bars

Cantina Boccone by Fabio Forin & Gonçalo Albuquerque Opens in London

Cantina Boccone is a 16-seat wine bar and deli opened by Fabio Forin and Gonçalo Albuquerque in Deptford Market Yard, celebrating Portuguese wines alongside Italian cured meats, cheeses and seasonal small plates. Housed beneath a single railway arch, the intimate venue is designed to showcase the founders' shared culinary heritage rather than blend the two cuisines.

At the centre of the space is a deli counter where meats and cheeses are sliced to order for dine-in and takeaway customers. The wine list highlights producers from Portugal and Italy, including bottles from lesser-known Portuguese regions, while the menu features dishes such as chouriço assado, bacalhau à Brás, buffalo mozzarella with grilled aubergine and handmade wild boar tortelloni. The founders also plan to host regular events alongside the bar's daily service.

The concept offers Londoners a neighbourhood destination that pairs regional wines with traditional Mediterranean-inspired fare. It also reflects growing demand for intimate hospitality venues that spotlight independent producers and authentic culinary traditions.
